POWERPACK OXFORD

Powerpack Oxford is led by Nick Jackson. Nick and his wife Kath live in Oxford and worship at Headington Baptist Church. Nick works full-time with Powerpack as the leader of children's ministry. Nick is a qualified primary school teacher and until very recently worked as a Deputy headteacher in a local school.
Nick's been involved with Powerpack for over 20 years leading large scale events like Spring Harvest, Faith Camp and Grapevine with between 300 and 600 children aged between 5 and 11. With a team from his church, he runs an annual holiday club and weekly after-school club in Oxford. Through training and equipping Nick supports churches and schools, develops resources, runs children's groups at church weekends and leads school assemblies.
This video was taken at Faith Camp in 2007.  It is a short introduction into the work of Powerpack at events.  Nick speaks about how he sees kids in Powerpack and his vision for kids work.

POWERPACK WEEKLY

' It's great! I love the games, stories and learning about God.' Joseph, age 6

A weekly Club for 4-9 Year Olds in Oxford. It is run at Headington Baptist Church. It is Thursdays from 4pm-5pm (the Coffee lounge is open from 3.30)

This September we launched a new style of Powerpack Weekly. It builds on two years of success and aims to equip and encourage a new generation of kids into a deeper relationship with Father God. We have developed a pack (a Power Pack) including wristbands, a music CD and Power Zone folder containing a journal, puzzle pack, and award cards.

We still start at 3.30 on Thursdays in the coffee lounge with snacks after school and then enjoy time together from 4-5, whilst parents and carers enjoy peace and quiet, cake, coffee and chat. We still have the use of the priory garden and have a fun-packed programme to enjoy. We still charge £1 a family, but to join Powerpack and receive the goodie bag and collecting folder it's -5 per child. We still have lots of jump around praise songs that you can;t get out of you head!

The programme throughout the term is filled with outdoor activity - night games, Bonfire night, garden games and a trip to Shotover Woods; parties - Bonfire Party, Christmas Party and Shine Party (Halloween alternative); with award a for 'Being Powerpacks', 'Cookery' and 'Prayer'

Kids love to collect things - so as an alternative to Scouts or Guides these collectable cards help children gain skill in practical things like cookery, drama, art, woodwork, music and also in spiritually practical things like prayer, bible reading, mission and serving others. Each award is designed to be fun and active.

The new materials can be seen in pdf format on the links below.

If youre interested in starting a club similar to this please contact me as I'm looking for pilot mid-week clubs to help establish this material.

Headington Baptist Holiday Club

'I don't think I will be able to find something as good as Powerpack because it was brilliant!' - Jonah

Follow The Leader was the theme for Headington Baptists Powerpack Holiday Club for 2009. As always it was a great week when members of the church worked together in an awesome way. The weeks teaching as based around how Jesus taught his disciples, how he spent time with them, modelled things and let them have a go. Each day the stories from the gospels showed how His disciples learn and ultimately went to all the world to share the good news.

We had 'experts' leading workshops in woodwork, art, media, puppetry and music. The older children were able to select a workshop for the week and enjoy creating things to use in our worship on Sunday morning. The results were amazing.

The week was buzzing with activity in the coffee lounge, in small groups and over in the priory garden where Duncan had built castle walls, stocks and strange hanging water bottles. The kids loved the games and had a great week. Images of the week can be seen on our photographer's flickr page.

We launched Powerpack's new album, More using songs like Our God will reign forever, Let's Walkabout and Undefeated Champion. It was superb to have a live band having previously used CDs.

It was great to work together with God on something that was such great fun.

This year's theme is God's Champions
