At Christmas 2008, Nick and the Powerpack Weekly Team in Oxford ran a kids party as a trial with Viva Network. The original Viva idea was to have adult dinner parties where each person pays for their party meal and contributes so that kids at risk across the world can have a party too. We worked together to develop this idea for a kids party last year. Since then Viva have grabbed hold of the ideas and now present
'Light Up A Face'
for Christmas this year.
It was great for the kids in Oxford to know that while they had their Christmas party they could help another child have a party who would not have been able to. Even better though was how quickly they understood that if those children came to a party they could meet doctors who help, community support for families and in some cases the church in action. These connections are continuing to build because of last year.
If you have a kids party arranged this year - why not consider raising some money to support this project - all the ideas and publicity material already exists and in a small way we can continue to engage our children in elements of mission.
