Heather is available to provide an advisory or consultancy service
to churches concerning their children’s ministry. This will
initially involve visiting the church, talking to the church leaders
/ children’s leaders, observing the children’s activities,
looking at resources and producing a report with recommendations.
Follow-up visits, training sessions etc, if appropriate, can be
worked out with individual churches. |

is a copy of an email that Heather received in September 2002 from
the vicar of a church where she has had some input in the past.
Heather’s last meeting with the children’s leaders was
in May 2002 when she led a training session about leading a child
to Christ. She shared with the leaders some ‘tools’
(the caterpillar idea is based on the colours of the wordless book
and the Hey! tract is available from CPO) which Gill one of the
leaders used in the session reported on below. |

" As I think I mentioned Gill was taking her group through
the basics of the gospel. They each made the caterpillars with
the gold, black, red, white, blue, and green sections. Anyway
on Sunday Gill took the kids through the 'Hey' tract and got them
to act it out - she made a tunnel, got them to throw rubbish in
it and shout sins of the world into the tunnel, then they filled
a plastic sack up with the rubbish and cleaned the tunnel out
and then nailed it to a big wooden cross.
Then Gill explained that God wanted to do that for each child
and that if they wanted him to and to become a Christian they
had to ask him to and then be willing to live his way etc. The
way to do this, she said, was actually to walk through this tunnel
and at the end of it a leader would pray with them, baptise them
with water and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill them. But if they
didn't want to they had an activity to get on with in another
part of the room.
12 children became Christians on Sunday and were prayed with to
be filled with the Spirit - praise the Lord!
I share this just because without you coming to see us this would
never have happened and as I type this email I thank God for you
and all he has given to us through you". |
