Guildford Baptist Church held a celebration service on Staurday 17th march to mark 40 years of ministry in the building at Millmead. The day for the adults was celebrating the past, enjoying the present, embracing the future. As a church they are embarking on phases of changes to their existing building to create a structure that will allow them to be the church God’s called them to be and support the missional opportunities available.
Nick, Kath, Steve Bradley, Sarah Jones, Emma Wright and Lizi Nicholls led a programme with the children looking at similar themes – God in their past – sharing thank you prayers and testimonies; God in the present – praying for healings and breakthroughs now; and God in the future – what kind of church do we desire to be? What kind of place can children bring people to?
The day was meant to feel like a celebration so on arrival children were either face painting, balloon modelling, plate spinning or using a diablo. There was also a chance to build an ‘egg protector’ to wrap an egg and drop it from the highest room in the building and see if a structure could be created to stop it breaking. (Only one egg survived the 3-storey drop!!)
“It was great to have time with some awesome children. We had the privilege of praying for them, sharing words God had said to them and having loads of fun.”
We believe that the children today can shake this nation.
