Thailand 2012

Heather spent two weeks in Thailand in January, working with the Oliver family and many good friends in Chiang Mai.  She had the privilege of preaching at City Gate Church,  teaching children’s leaders, parents and church leaders at Light of Chiang Mai Church as well as encouraging the children’s leaders from the Thai congregation of Jenny’s church, meeting and praying with some on-fire youth and sharing some testimonies with the children at Ban San Faan Children’s Centre. She, together with Jenny and Mirjam were also able to travel to a neighbouring country, where around 40 leaders gathered  for two days of intensive training in children’s ministry.  ‘It was amazing to see the need ; it was like writing on a clean sheet of paper as we helped then both develop a vision for children’s ministry and help them learn all kinds of different skills to see the vision fulfilled,’  Heather said on her return.  On Sunday they were also able to lead a meeting with the children (the adults of the church were also present) and the presence of God came very powerfully while they were practising a couple of Powerpack songs, even before the actual start of the meeting. Many of the children were really touched by the Spirit and received more of the Father’s love for them – it was a very special time. ‘

There are plans for future visits to do some even more comprehensive training for children’s leaders and we are working on producing children’s ministry resources in different languages – there is a huge need. Please pray for the church in South East Asia and for the Oliver family as they represent Powerpack in that region – there are many things that could be done and wisdom is required to know what are then most strategic.
