A place of Encounter

From 4th-6th October, Nick went to Bromham Baptist Church to lead some training and the children’s programme for 4-11 year olds.  The church hold their annual church weekend in their own building filling the two days with puddings and evening games, talks, worship, ministry, and treasure hunts.  It was a great time for the church family to be together.  There was a really warm welcome and it was great to hear such powerful testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

Nick and Linds (who unfortunately was unable to come) planned sessions on: Who is God?; Who am I?; How does God see me (identity)? and How do I connect with God?  The adult speaker, Andy Glover, introduced his topics which matched so well with the Powerpack programme.  It was great to see the connections.

The weekend went well with a kids church team member joining Nick for each session and 4 ‘Junior Leaders’ involved in the programme.  These junior leaders were fantastic – great at encouraging and praying or the children; they’re  fantastic role models.

The last session was communion, with the kids performing ‘Outrageous Grace’ and then laying hands on the adults in the room and asking for ‘More love, more power and more freedom.’  We then all finished with a Fire Tunnel.

‘I heard God tell me that if I played a game with him it would be Hide and Seek – so that we could have fun together and I can get close to Him.’ Jack, 11

‘I heard God say his favourite sweet was Fangtastics, when I asked him why, he said because they are exciting and surprising.’ Benjamin, 8

‘I prayed for a lady with a bad stomach, and a person who couldn’t see well out of one eye.’  (2 people were healed on this Sunday morning)

‘When I drew a picture of me and God we were both holding hands.’ Charlotte, 6

Lots of fun playing!  Lego and construction were very popular.
We learnt how to do balloon modeling We made ourselves in clay asking God to show us how he had made us special and unique. We put a dry sponge in the water, scrunched up it stayed dry.  Then we got it soaking wet.  We talked about coming to God open to be filled.
We put stones in the heart for things we found were tough, or things that have been said about us that aren’t true, then we emptied it to let God to give us a pure hearts.   We asked God to show us which toy to take and why.  (this was very powerful)  The plasma ball, responds when you touch it the connection follows your finger as you move.  We explored our relationship with God.
This is a washing line of how we connect with God. The fire tunnel with the adults. Nick leading training over fish and chips!
