The UN is declaring 2014 the International Year of the Family and so 3 of the main sessions will focus on family ministry issues – on Friday Krish Kandiah, of the Evangelical Alliance, will speak on ‘It takes a Church to Raise a Child’, on Saturday morning Rachel Turner will speak on ‘Parenting for a Life of Purpose’, and on Sunday some of the challenges of delivering intergenerational church will be considered. On Saturday evening, the focus will be on ways to engage children with the Bible and hear about some new multimedia initiatives as well as having a preview of the new Noah musical which Saltmine and Doug Horley are intending to take on a theatre tour of the country.
Pete James and his band will lead the times of worship and there will be opportunities for prayer and Bible study as well as optional sessions on a whole range of topics for those just starting out in ministry to children or families and for those who are ‘old hands’. We will be part of an exhibition of about 50 organisation and ministries that support and resource these areas of ministry. The Hands-On, creative area will be incorporated into workshops throughout the weekend and will send you home with lots of new, practical ideas.
To encourage you to bring your Young Leaders along to the conference for training and inspiration, there are half price tickets for under-21s. In addition to the general sessions, there will be special sessions for Young Leaders to meet to discuss issues that particularly relate to them and an area for them to meet up with each other and the Young Leaders designated team.
